Epoxy Anchoring has several advantages, including high bonding strength, minimal shrinkage during the curing process, excellent temperature resistance, weldability, durability, good weather resistance, aging resistance, high impact resistance, non-toxic and environmentally friendly properties, and convenient application. It is suitable for various applications such as embedding reinforcement in steel bars or screws in various building structures, reinforcement and strengthening of building structures, and embedding reinforcement in building structure frames or shear walls. As the technology of grout reinforcement matures, the use of epoxy anchoring is becoming increasingly widespread. Below, we will explore several key considerations when using epoxy anchoring.
1、Hole Cleaning during Epoxy Anchoring Application:
The cleanliness of the holes during epoxy anchoring application determines the effectiveness of its use and the final reinforcement results. In addition to using dedicated blowers, brushes, or compressed air machines to clean dust from the drill holes, it is essential to thoroughly clean rust and oil stains from the steel bars. Failure to do so may result in insufficient bonding between the implanted steel bars and the hole walls, leading to an inability to achieve the required pull-out force specified in the design.
2、Key Points to Note during Epoxy Anchoring Application:
·Sufficient Amount of Adhesive:
The grout injected into the holes should not be less than 2/3 of the hole depth. This ensures that after inserting the steel bars to the bottom of the hole, excess grout will overflow from the hole. Failing to meet this requirement may lead to the implanted steel bars being unable to generate the required pull-out force as per the design.
·Reduction of Impurities:
During grout injection, precautions should be taken to prevent impurities, especially moisture, dust, etc., from mixing in to avoid bubble formation, which could affect the effectiveness of the grout reinforcement.
·Thorough Mixing:
During grout injection, it is crucial to mix thoroughly and clean the drill holes completely. Before solidification, avoid touching the rod body.
·Protective Measures:
Construction workers should wear gloves, masks, safety goggles, and other protective equipment. If inadvertently applied to the skin or clothing, clean with acetone and rinse with plenty of water. If accidentally ingested or splashed into the eyes, seek medical attention immediately.
·Proper Storage:
Do not return any remaining mixed adhesive to the container. To speed up or slow down the epoxy anchoring curing process, adjust the amount of curing agent accordingly. Remember to store the adhesive in a cool place and tightly seal the container after use.
